Safety
Program staff is responsible for creating and monitoring camp activities while participating in them. The well being of the individuals and community is a top priority.
With prior notice, special needs diets can be accommodated for campers with dietary restrictions.
The Deaf Youth Camp of Color has its registered nurse (RN) that can communicate in American Sign Language. There is a medical personnel lodge with several beds. The RN can provide basic first aid; administer medication; keeps a medical log on daily basis; and works with a local doctor, depending on medical situations. Note that all applications require a medical form completion, including the current physical examination and the vaccination information.
Anyone involved in smoking, sexual harassment, use of alcohol and drugs, violations of camp rules and policies, and behaviors that harm others, may face serious consequences.
